The experience

Krujë Castle sits at the center of Skanderbeg's rebellion against Ottoman rule, and the tour starts there. You walk through the fortress complex, see the seven-level Skanderbeg Museum with its armor replicas and battle murals, then browse the traditional bazaar inside the castle grounds for handmade wooden products, carpets, toys and jewelry. The museum entrance is included, so there's no separate ticket to buy.

The second half of the day takes you to Mount Sarisalltik and the Sacred Cave, a 13th-century site venerated by the Bektashis.
