The experience

The tour departs Lusaka at 7:30 am on day one, heading south by road through Kafue toward Choma, the provincial capital of Southern Province. You travel by air-conditioned vehicle with your guide, stopping overnight in Choma before continuing to Livingstone the next day. On the way, you stop in Kalomo to visit the Kalundu Mound, the site of the first colonial administrator's residence and the original Standard Chartered Bank building from the Rhodesian era.

Once in Livingstone, day four takes you to Victoria Falls for a guided tour of the falls themselves, followed by a village visit where you see how people live in the area. The morning of day five starts early with a game drive through Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, where you walk on foot to look for rhino and other wildlife. After the safari, the rest of day five is yours to use as you choose. You can book water activities on the Zambezi River, take a day trip across the border to Chobe National Park in Botswana, or rest at your accommodation. All paid activities on that day are at your own cost.

Meals and bottled water travel with you throughout. Accommodation varies by night and is arranged as part of the package. Your guide briefs you on what to expect at each stop and handles the logistics of the overland journey. Day six is your final departure to your next destination or home.

Is this one for you?Six days is long enough to cross the country and spend three full days around Livingstone and the falls, but short enough to fit into a week-long trip if you arrive in Lusaka on day one and depart on day six. The open day five lets you choose whether to rest, pursue paid water sports, or venture into Botswana, so the pace is yours to set once you reach the destination.
