The experience
The tour starts with a 7:45 pickup from your hotel and a 75-minute drive to Paradise Cave, located 25 kilometers into the national park's core zone. Paradise Cave holds the title of Asia's longest dry cave, and you'll spend the morning exploring its passages and formations. At 12:30, lunch happens at a local restaurant in Phong Nha village, giving you a break before the afternoon's water-based leg.
After lunch, you drive 50 kilometers to Phong Nha Cave, a 45-minute journey from the village. A 25-minute boat ride takes you into the cave itself, where you'll spend a couple of hours seeing the water cave's famous rock formations. Each one named for what it resembles: the Lion, the Fairy Caves, the Royal Court, and the Buddha. The cave sits inside Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, which contains hundreds of cave systems carved into the oldest karst mountains in Asia.
The return to your hotel happens around 5 p.m. An air-conditioned vehicle carries the group throughout the day, and your guide speaks English or Vietnamese. Bottled water is provided, and all national park fees and taxes are built into the price.
