The experience
The morning starts with a pickup from your hotel or a meeting point in the city center, then a short ride out to a garden on the outskirts where the activities take place. You'll spend around 1.5 hours cycling through quiet village paths, green gardens, and along scenic canals. The kind of riding that lets you notice the rhythm of the Mekong countryside without rushing through it. The pace is relaxed. You're moving slowly enough to take in the fresh air and the way the landscape opens up beyond the city.
After the bike ride, you join a local family for a hands-on cooking class. You'll learn how to prepare traditional Vietnamese dishes alongside the host, then sit down to eat what you've made in their garden. This isn't a demonstration you watch from the side. You're doing the work, learning the techniques and the ingredients that go into the food people here actually eat. The meal is your early dinner, included in the price.
The final part of the day is a traditional water hyacinth and bamboo weaving workshop led by local artisans. They'll show you how handmade baskets, trays, cups, and bags are created from natural materials harvested in the delta. You'll spend around 30 minutes weaving your own small souvenir. Something you made with your hands that you can take home. When it's done, your guide brings you back to your hotel.
