The experience
The morning starts at 9am with pickup and a drive to Akodong Village, where you'll meet your guide and the Ede family who will teach you. You'll spend time in their traditional longhouse over coffee, learning how they live and what matters to them. Then the cooking begins: you walk their garden to harvest fresh vegetables, handle the ingredients the way they do, and learn the techniques that have stayed in the family for generations. Your guide translates as the host explains each step, and you prepare a full Ede meal together, not a demonstration you watch, but a dish you make with your hands.
After the meal, you sit with the family and eat what you've cooked, sharing stories and the warmth of their home. There's time to rest in the longhouse before you move on. By early afternoon you're at Dray Nur Waterfall, where the water drops through lush forest and the air cools around you. You can swim, wade or simply stand in the spray and let the landscape settle. The return to the city happens by 3pm.
