The experience

The route loops through four distinct landscapes, each one a day's ride. Day one takes you from Dalat's landmarks (the Crazy House, Railway Station, Dragon Pagoda) out through farmland and mountain passes to Lak Lake, where you stay at a lakeside hotel. Day two is the deepest immersion: you wake at Lak Lake to watch the M'nong people fish in wooden canoes and work their fields, explore Jun Village on foot, climb Elephant Rock Mountain for the panorama, then ride to Dray Sap Waterfall. There you swim in the Fairy Pool before settling into a traditional long stilt house in the jungle for the night, with a barbecue dinner cooked over fire.

Day three follows the Ho Chi Minh Trail, a route layered with war-time history and rural villages where you stop to talk with locals. The ride climbs through mountain passes into tea plantations and rice paddies around Bao Loc, where you sleep at a hotel. The final day visits Pongour Waterfall, one of Vietnam's largest, then winds through jungle roads to Chicken Village, home to the K'Ho ethnic minority, and the hilltop Truc Lam Temple before the ride back to Dalat. Your guide speaks English and Vietnamese throughout, and all four nights' accommodation is covered in the price.
