The experience
So I was already half-lost in the soft music when the door closed behind me at Herbal Spa in Da Nang. The air smelled faintly of lemongrass and something sweet, maybe the herbal oil? I’d never tried a four-hands massage before, so when both therapists started moving together, honestly, my brain couldn’t keep up. It was like my body forgot how to hold tension. There’s this one part where they used warm stones along my back. I didn’t expect the heat to feel that good. For a second I almost laughed out loud because it felt so strange and nice at the same time.
The therapists (I caught their names: Mai and Linh) barely spoke above a whisper, but every so often Mai would check if the pressure was okay. At one point I tried to say “thank you” in Vietnamese, “cảm ơn”, and Linh smiled so wide I must’ve gotten close enough. The whole thing lasted about an hour, but it felt longer somehow, like time got stretchy in there. When they finished, I just lay there for a minute listening to the rain outside (it started halfway through). My skin still smelled of herbs when I finally sat up.
Afterwards they brought me this little tray with hot tea, soup, and some fruit: dragonfruit is way better fresh than anything back home. I didn’t rush. Nobody seemed bothered by how long I lingered.
