The experience
Canyoning in Da Lat means navigating a gorge with waterfalls using equipment and technique a guide teaches you on the spot. You arrive at the practical point and spend 45 minutes learning how to use the gear (harnesses, carabiners, ropes), and practicing a dry abseil on an 18-meter rappel before you touch the real canyon. The guide, a canyoning expert, walks you through knot tying and safe abseiling so you understand what you're doing at each stage, not just following instructions.
The canyon itself unfolds in stages. After the practice rappel, you swim at a waterfall, then cross on a Tyrolean traverse (a zip-line strung across the gorge), slide down another waterfall, and jump seven meters into a pool. Lunch (Vietnamese food with water and fruit) breaks the day roughly in half. Then comes the real test: a 25-meter rappel down a major waterfall, another seven-meter jump, and a final 12-meter descent called The Washing Machine because of how the water churns at the base. A 25-minute trek uphill brings you back to the van and the ride to central Da Lat.
The guide speaks English and carries all permits, first aid, and professional-grade gear that meets European safety standards: locking carabiners, European ropes, wetsuits and helmets included. Transport from the city and back is part of the booking. Children from age eight can join if they have moderate fitness. The activity is not suitable for anyone with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or cardiovascular concerns.

What do I actually learn during the canyoning class?
You learn knot tying, how to wear and adjust a harness, and abseiling technique: how to set the rope for descent and how to abseil safely. The guide trains you on all of this before you rappel the real waterfalls, starting with a practice 18-meter dry abseil so you're confident before water enters the picture.
How many waterfalls do I rappel down during the six hours?
You descend three waterfalls: an 18-meter practice rappel, a 25-meter waterfall in the main canyon, and a 12-meter descent called The Washing Machine. Between rappels you also zip-line, slide down another waterfall, and jump into pools.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?
The tour includes all canyoning gear (wetsuits, harnesses, helmets, carabiners, ropes), an English-speaking professional guide, permits, transport from the city, lunch with Vietnamese food, water, tea and snacks, and a first aid kit. Is this canyoning tour suitable for someone with no climbing or rappelling experience?
