The experience
What makes this tour different is that your guide is a working photographer, not a generalist. That means you get real help composing shots, positioning yourself for light, and using the equipment (tripods, binoculars) that's built into the van. The guide also knows the geology, history and ecology of the park, so you understand what you're looking at. Because the tour is private, just your group, there's no schedule pressure: if you find a wolf den or a thermal feature worth an extra hour, you take it.
The day runs ten hours and covers whatever part of Yellowstone appeals to you most. You might chase Old Faithful and the Grand Prismatic Spring, or focus on the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and its waterfalls. The guide will work to locate wildlife (bears, wolves, bison, elk), though sightings are never guaranteed. Stops can be as short or as long as you want, and you choose whether to walk, hike or stay near the vehicle at each one. Lunch and bottled water are included, and the air-conditioned van means you're comfortable between sites.
Tours run April 17 through October 31, during Yellowstone's normal operating season. Winter tours are not available. Entrance fees to the park are separate: $20 for US residents or $120 for international visitors, or you can use an America the Beautiful pass if you have one. Pickup is included, so confirm your hotel or meeting point when you book.
