The Experience

The moment you step onto Bowling Green, you're standing in front of the oldest fence in New York City. The Hidden Gems route keeps you in the older parts of the district instead: Stone Street (the first paved street in the city, now a pedestrian strip full of restaurants), Schermerhorn Row dating back to 1811, the elevated park, the back alleys. Your guide, a licensed local who speaks English or Italian, chooses which one fits what you want to see. Either way, you're walking at a medium pace on foot the whole time, so dress for the weather and wear shoes you don't mind in.
