The experience

The tour starts at Bowling Green, New York's oldest park, where your guide explains its role in colonial New York and the American Revolution. From there you move to Wall Street to see the Charging Bull and learn how the street evolved from the city's early days into the financial center it is today. You'll stand at Federal Hall, where George Washington was sworn in as the first President and Congress ratified the Bill of Rights: the guide walks you through what happened in that building and why it matters to the country's story.

The route takes you to Trinity Church, where you visit Alexander Hamilton's monument in the graveyard and hear about the Founding Father's life and his fatal duel in New York. You'll also see St. Paul's Chapel, the oldest public building in the city, which has a direct connection to both George Washington and the September 11 attacks. At the SeaGlass Carousel near Battery Park, you get views of the harbor, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island while your guide shares stories about both landmarks.

Stone Street, one of New York's oldest streets, is where you take a break. A coffee or tea is on us (though you can order additional drinks and food at your own cost). The tour ends at the 9/11 Memorial, where you pay tribute to the victims and learn about the design and meaning behind the two reflecting pools. You'll also visit the Oculus, the striking new structure that sits above the memorial site.
