Step-by-step itinerary

Via ferrata slot canyon adventure

  • Receive safety gear and instructions
  • Rappel into the slot canyon
  • Climb the canyon walls

The experience

This is the only via ferrata, an iron-path climbing route, set inside a slot canyon anywhere in the world. You'll use fixed metal rungs bolted into the canyon walls to climb upward, moving at your own pace with your guide watching your technique and safety. The sheer walls and narrow passages mean you're climbing terrain most people never reach, and the slot canyon setting itself is the route: you're not climbing a manufactured wall or a mountain face, but the actual stone of the canyon.

Your guide handles the safety setup and teaches you how to use your harness, helmet, gloves and safety lanyards before you start. All gear is provided and fitted to you. The climbing itself demands moderate fitness (you'll be pulling yourself up using your arms and legs), but no prior climbing experience is required. Once you've climbed the canyon, you'll rappel back down, controlling your descent on a rope with your guide managing the belay. The whole experience takes two hours from start to finish.

Public transportation options are available nearby if you're getting to the meeting point without a car. Children from age 9 can participate, though the physical demands mean younger kids may find it challenging. Your guide speaks English and will instruct you through every move, so you're never figuring out the route or the safety systems on your own.

What’s included

  • Guided tour led by an experienced guide.
  • full body harness, safety lanyards, helmet and gloves.

Is this one for you?Your guide speaks English and teaches you every step, so this works for anyone with moderate fitness who wants to climb but has never done it before. The fixed iron rungs and guided setup mean you're not managing the route or the safety systems yourself. Your guide handles those while you focus on the climbing.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (9 to 15 years). Children under 9 can't be included in the booking.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What exactly is a via ferrata and how is it different from regular rock climbing?

Via ferrata means "iron path": a climbing route with fixed metal rungs, pegs and cables bolted permanently into the rock. Instead of free climbing or using ropes to ascend, you clip your safety lanyard to the metal rungs as you climb, which keeps you protected while you move upward under your own power. It's more accessible than traditional rock climbing because the rungs give you handholds and footholds, and your guide controls the safety systems.

Do I need climbing experience to do this tour?

No prior climbing experience is required. Your guide will teach you how to use the harness, helmet and safety equipment, and will instruct you through the entire climb. You'll need a moderate level of physical fitness because you're pulling yourself up the canyon walls, but the fixed rungs and your guide's support make it manageable for people new to climbing.

What's included in the tour and what do I need to bring?

The tour includes a guided experience, a full body harness, safety lanyards, helmet and gloves. Your guide provides all the climbing and safety gear. You should wear comfortable athletic clothing and closed-toe shoes with good grip. Bring water and sun protection. Public transportation is available to reach the meeting point if you don't have a car.

How long does the tour take from start to finish?

The tour runs two hours total. That includes the safety briefing and gear fitting, the climb up the canyon walls using the iron rungs, and the rappel descent back down.
