Indoor Skydiving in Tampa: 2 Flights with Instructor
Float in a vertical wind tunnel at 130 to 175 mph with an instructor guiding you through free-fall
Indoor skydiving at iFLY Tampa puts you in an 800-horsepower vertical wind tunnel for two separate 60-second flights with a certified instructor, after a training session that teaches you how to float safely in the airflow. No skydiving experience is necessary, and the entire session runs about 75 minutes. You take home a personalized certificate of achievement.
The Experience
iFLY Tampa uses a state-of-the-art wind tunnel to create the sensation of skydiving without leaving the ground. After you arrive and put on your gear, a certified flight instructor walks you through a training session that covers body position, hand signals and how to move inside the tunnel. The instructor explains how the 800-horsepower vertical wind tunnel generates a wall-to-wall cushion of air — the same technology professional skydivers use — and what to expect when the wind speed climbs.
Once you're in the flight chamber, the tunnel operator slowly increases the wind speed until you lift off the ground. You'll experience wind speeds reaching 130 to 175 mph (209 to 282 kph) while your instructor stays with you, guiding your body position and movements. Each of your two flights lasts 60 seconds, and the instructor is on hand at all times to keep you stable and safe. The entire experience, from gear and training through both flights, takes about 75 minutes.
You'll leave with a personalized flight certificate. The facility accommodates groups of up to six people, though you fly one-on-one with your instructor during your time in the tunnel. Wear lace-up sneakers or running shoes and comfortable clothes; all flight gear is provided.
