The experience
Mondo's Beach is where you'll spend the morning learning the fundamentals of surfing. The instructor begins on the sand, walking you through how to position yourself on the board, paddling techniques, and proper stance before you ever enter the water. Once in the ocean, you'll get pointers on maneuvering waves, balance techniques, and surf etiquette: the unwritten rules that keep the lineup respectful. The lesson is designed for first-timers or anyone who's tried surfing a few times and needs some pointers to build a solid foundation.
Mid-way through the four hours, you'll take a break to eat and drink on the sand. The beach picnic gives you time to relax, recharge, and let your muscles recover before the final push. A professional wetsuit fitted to your size and a surfboard are provided, so you show up with just your swimsuit and the right attitude. Bring sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), a full water bottle, a hat, a beach towel, and a change of dry clothes. The instructors have over 25 years' combined experience and will make sure you're set up to actually learn instead of just flailing around.
The lesson requires a minimum of two participants to run, so if you're booking solo, call the office to confirm availability before you commit. Children as young as seven can join if they're comfortable swimming in the ocean and ducking under waves. You'll need at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The lesson isn't recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
