The experience

The tour starts at the operator's office about 30–40 minutes from Downtown Denver. From there, a short 10–20 minute drive takes you to the trailhead in the Front Range, the snow-covered section of the Rocky Mountains that rises just outside the city. You'll spend three hours on the trail itself, moving at a pace the guide sets based on the group's fitness level and the snow conditions that day.

Snowshoes are buckled around your regular shoes. Wear warm, sturdy hiking boots and bring extra socks. The operator provides state-of-the-art snowshoeing equipment, so you don't need to own or rent gear separately. Along the way, your expert guide carries a Powerbar and sports drink to refuel you on the trail. The winter season runs from November through March, when the Front Range gets reliable snow cover and the trails open for snowshoeing.

The tour operates year-round weather permitting, though cancellation is possible if minimum group numbers aren't met. You'll be offered an alternative date or a full refund in that case. Hotel pickup and drop-off are available for an additional fee if you'd rather not drive to the office yourself.
