The Experience

The tour picks you up at the Skagway cruise dock and heads straight up the Klondike Highway, stopping at photo points along the way—Pitchfork Falls (a 2,000-foot cascade under the White Pass and Yukon Railway bridge), the White Pass summit itself, and various Gold Rush-era buildings and scenic overlooks. The route takes you through downtown Skagway before climbing into Canada, so you'll see the landscape shift as you gain elevation.

The sled dog camp is the centerpiece most tours skip: you meet the musher and her team, then spend time in a large gated play area with the puppies. The camp has a gift shop and snacks for purchase if you want to stay longer. From there, the tour continues to the Welcome to the Yukon sign—a photo stop where First Nations vendors sell authentic goods—and then to the Yukon Suspension Bridge, where you walk the boardwalk, take in views of the Tutshi River from multiple vantage points, and read interpretive markers about the region's history. Lunch is available at the bridge but not included in the tour price.

The entire route is about five hours, and you'll pass through Canada Customs twice—once on the way up and once on the way back. CBSA agents board the bus to check passports at the border, so have your documents ready. The tour gets you back to the ship on time, and because you're covering three major stops in one trip instead of choosing between them, you see roughly three times more wildlife habitat than tours that only go to White Pass.
