The experience
Five glasses of Silvara wine, each 1.6 ounces, arrive with a pairing: cheese, nuts and crackers chosen to match what's in your glass. A sommelier guides you through the tasting, explaining how Washington's climate and soil shape the wines you're drinking and why Silvara's winemakers chose these particular grapes and techniques. The host brings years of experience in the wine industry (conducting tastings, representing top brands, working as an ambassador for regional wineries), and knows the specifics of this region's varietal diversity and winemaking style.
The tasting unfolds over an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes in a setting that overlooks the Cascade Mountains. You can join the noon session or the 3 PM session, whichever fits your day. The sommelier's role is to educate and entertain, walking you through each wine's character and how the pairings bring out different notes. This is not a self-guided pour. The guide shapes the experience and answers questions as you taste.

Top questions
What Washington wines will I taste at Silvara Cellars?
Silvara pours five of its own wines (estate and partner vineyard selections) each designed to showcase a different aspect of Washington terroir and winemaking style. The sommelier explains the character and craftsmanship behind each one as you taste.
How much wine do I get to drink during the tasting?
Each of the five wines is poured in a 1.6-ounce glass, so you're tasting rather than drinking heavily. The pairings of cheese, nuts and crackers are meant to be eaten alongside each pour.
What time can I book the wine tasting?
Silvara runs two daily sessions: one at 12 PM and one at 3 PM. Both last between 60 and 75 minutes, so you can choose whichever fits your schedule.
Do I need to know about wine before I come?
No. The sommelier guides guests at every level of wine knowledge, from beginners to enthusiasts. The tasting is designed to deepen your understanding of Washington wine, not to assume you already have one.
What's included in the tasting experience?
The five wines, food pairings (cheese, nuts and crackers for each wine), and the sommelier's guided instruction are all included. You do not need to arrange transportation to the winery separately.
