A semi-private snorkeling tour to Shell Key Island with a maximum of 6 passengers per boat, where you snorkel among dolphins, manatees, rays and wild birds in their natural habitat. The boat remains at the island for the entire 2-hour outing, and the crew provides snorkel gear, floating noodles, bottled water and a cooler with ice on board. You choose from three departure times: 9am, mid-day or 4:15pm. A minimum of 2 people per booking is required, and check-in is 30 minutes before departure.
The Experience
Shell Key Island is a wildlife preserve where you'll snorkel in shallow water and walk the beach collecting shells. Depending on the season, you'll see dolphins in their natural habitat alongside manatees, rays and wild birds. The snorkel gear is provided, and if you need a break from the water, the shaded boat has cold drinks waiting. Floating noodles are on hand if you want them, and the crew watches for safety the whole time you're swimming.
The semi-private format keeps the boat to a maximum of 6 passengers, so you're not competing for space or attention. The crew doesn't drop anchor and leave — they stay with you for the full 2 hours, which means you can move between snorkeling, shelling and resting without worrying about timing or missing the boat. Bottled water and a cooler with ice are included, and you're welcome to bring your own drinks. Parking at Tierra Verde Marina Resort is free.
Three departure times let you pick the rhythm of your day: 9am, mid-day or 4:15pm. You'll need to check in 30 minutes before your departure time, and all trips leave promptly. A live guide speaks English throughout. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and the tour suits all fitness levels.
