Reindeer and Snowmobile Day Trip to Borealis Basecamp with Lunch
Ride your own snowmobile through the Boreal Forest, then feed reindeer at the basecamp
A full-day activity at Borealis Basecamp combining a one-hour snowmobile tour through groomed trails and a 30-minute reindeer encounter, with lunch at the on-site restaurant and hotel pickup from Fairbanks. You drive your own snowmobile past the Trans Alaska Pipeline and through the White Mountains, then meet the resident Alaskan reindeer herd, feed them, and take photos before departing at 4:30pm.
The experience
Eight hours starts with a 45-minute drive north on the Elliott Highway to Borealis Basecamp, nestled in the Boreal Forest with views across the valley. The snowmobile portion puts you in control of your own machine on a groomed trail that traces the Trans Alaska Pipeline and cuts through a genuine Alaskan trapline. Your guide points out the landscape features as you ride at a comfortable pace, and animal tracks in the snow or wildlife sightings are possible even in the coldest conditions. The route sweeps through the White Mountains forest, where the arctic valleys open up around you.
After the ride, the 30-minute reindeer tour lets you meet the herd that lives year-round at Basecamp on a diet of reindeer feed and natural treats. You feed them, take photos, and your guide explains how reindeer survive the Alaskan Arctic. Lunch follows at Latitude 65, the on-site restaurant, where a $20 voucher covers most of the regular menu: hot and cold sandwiches, noodle dishes, and rotating fresh soups. You can also join complimentary resort activities between the main events.
Snow gear is provided. If snow is insufficient, the snowmobile tour runs on UTVs instead. Guests under 16 ride as passengers. Those 16 and older with a valid driver's license can operate their own machine. Children under 8 cannot participate in the snowmobile portion.

Is this one for you?The full eight hours means you leave your hotel in the morning and return by early evening, which works if your schedule has the day free but rules out combining this with other Fairbanks activities in the same day. Guests 16 and older with a valid driver's license operate their own snowmobile. Younger riders participate as passengers on the machine with an adult.
