The experience

You and your group board a brand new custom boat with a captain who runs the show for the full hour. The boat holds up to 12 passengers, so a family or a cluster of friends books one vessel and stays together the whole time. The captain handles all the driving and timing. Your job is to hold on, lean into the turns, and decide how fast you want to go: most tubing outfits let riders signal the boat when they're ready for more speed or want to ease back.

The waters around Hilton Head Island are calm enough for all fitness levels and all ages to get in a tube. You don't need to have tubed before. The captain walks your group through the basics before you push off. Bring a swimsuit and a towel, and wear shoes that can get wet or go barefoot. The boat deck gets slippery. The ride lasts a full hour on the water, so you're not rushing through it.
