The experience

Four hours of climbing means you pick the rock and the pace. The guide builds the day around what you want to work on: footwork, anchors, rappelling, or just moving on stone for the first time. Every trip is custom, so a complete beginner spends the morning learning the basics on terrain that matches their comfort, while someone with experience can tackle harder routes or learn a specific skill they've been chasing.

All climbing equipment comes with you: harness, rope, protection, and everything else the guide brings. You show up ready to climb, not ready to shop or rent. The guide stays with you the whole time, watching your movement, catching mistakes before they matter, and pointing out the features of the rock itself: how to read the stone, where your weight should sit, what the canyon walls tell you about where to move next.

Northern New Mexico's canyons and mountains are the classroom. The rock changes as you move through the landscape, and the guide knows which formations fit which skills. A beginner might work on a single pitch in a protected canyon. Someone further along might string together a longer route or explore a different formation. The terrain itself becomes part of the instruction.
