The experience

The tour starts from St. Louis and moves into Missouri Wine Country on a route your guide shapes based on what you want to explore. You're not locked into a fixed itinerary: the operator builds the day around your preferences, whether that means lingering at one winery, skipping ahead to a brewery, or spending extra time in a particular town. Balducci Vineyards, a 76-acre estate that has won the local readers' poll for favorite winery for 17 years, sits on rolling hills with views across the region. Augusta Winery, founded in 1988, overlooks the Missouri River Valley from the bluffs. The town itself holds the designation of America's first Viticultural Area, recognized in 1980 for its unique soil, climate and historical significance. Montelle and Chandler Hill are newer operations that rebuilt the winemaking tradition after decades of dormancy.

Good News Brewing Company operates two locations (one in Augusta just off the Katy Trail, the other in nearby Defiance) both known for seasonal craft brews and pizza. Noboleis, which opened in 2005 on 84 acres of planted Missouri grapes, has grown to over 30 wines in its portfolio and now cans wine for sangria. Your guide, who has worked in the St. Louis region since 2005, knows the wineries, the dining options and the social landscape well enough to adjust the day if you discover a place you want to spend more time in. The entire experience is built on guest input and host expertise rather than a preset schedule.

The tour runs between four and eight hours depending on how many stops you want and how long you linger at each one. Your guide provides transportation throughout, and all photos taken at the stops are yours to keep. This is a private booking, so the pace and the commentary stay focused on your group alone.
