The experience
The tour runs about four and a half hours in a full-size luxury SUV with a guide who is a wine enthusiast and knows the peninsula's story: why Chateau Grand Traverse sparked the whole wine region, what makes Bry's Estates one of Michigan's ten most popular, which tasting rooms have the views worth lingering over. You tell the guide which four stops matter to you, or if you're not sure, they'll find the wines that fit your palate and steer you toward them. Wine samples and flights are available on the tour. Bottles and food are separate purchases.
The SUV seats your group without splitting it across multiple vehicles, and the driver handles the route so nobody has to navigate between tastings. Semi-private tours run with other small groups in the same vehicle. Private tours are just your party. If you're booking for six or more, the tour includes a complimentary bottle of wine to share.
Pickup is included. The tour operates year-round, and the guides are local: University of Michigan and regional university graduates who live in Traverse City. The company is owned and operated by former law enforcement and is military and first-responder friendly.

Top questions
Can I pick which four wineries we visit on the Old Mission Peninsula tour?
Yes. The guide will take you to four locations of your choice from the available wineries: Peninsula Cellars, Chateau Grand Traverse, Mari Vineyards, Hawthorne, Bry's Estates, Chateau Chantal, Bowers Harbor, Bonobo and Old Mission Distillers. If you don't have a preference, the guide will recommend stops based on what you like to drink.
What's the difference between the semi-private and private tour options?
Semi-private tours share the SUV with other small groups. Private tours are for your group alone. Both visit four wineries and include a live guide, but private tours let you set the pace and stops without coordinating with other parties.
Does the tour include wine tastings, or do I pay for those separately?
Wine samples and flights are available on the tour. Bottles you want to purchase and any food are separate charges. Groups of six or more get a complimentary bottle included with the booking.
What do the wineries on Old Mission Peninsula specialize in?
The peninsula is known for Rieslings, Pinot Noirs and other cool-climate wines. Chateau Grand Traverse was the first winery to establish the region's reputation, and stops like Bry's Estates, Hawthorne and Chateau Chantal are among the most visited. Old Mission Distillers offers spirits and mixed drinks alongside wine if you want variety in a single tour.
Is there a minimum age for this wine tour?
Yes, the minimum age is 21. Passengers under 21 cannot participate.
How does pickup work for the Old Mission Peninsula wine tour?
Pickup is included with the tour. The SUV will collect your group and return you at the end of the four-and-a-half-hour experience, so you don't need to arrange separate transportation.
