The experience

The day starts with a 60-minute guided tour of the USA side, departing from across the street at the Hard Rock Cafe. You'll visit Devil's Hole State Park, the Freedom Crossing Monument, and the Niagara Power Project designed by Robert Moses, learning the river's geology and history as you move toward Lewiston. Once there, the real event begins: a jetboat built to handle water most vessels cannot.

Devil's Hole Rapids carry 15–20 foot waves and currents hitting 20 mph, rated class 5: the threshold of navigability and strictly for experts. The boat heads upriver into the Niagara Gorge, where 175-foot walls rise straight from the water. You'll cut through the famous whirlpool, then reverse course through the rapids themselves, where the boat's speed and angle matter as much as the river's force. Forty-five minutes of this, then you change clothes and rejoin your guide for the return trip to the starting point.
