Niagara Falls night walking tour with fireworks views
Stand at Terrapin Point and feel the mist from the Horseshoe Falls in the dark
A guided walking tour of Niagara Falls at night on the USA side, starting at Hardrock Cafe and moving through Goat Island to three viewing points where the falls are illuminated. The guide shares the history of the site and the people who changed the world here—Nikola Tesla, the goat that made the island famous, and the falls themselves. Fireworks launch from Terrapin Point at 10pm nightly from May 14 through October 14, weather permitting.
Step-by-step itinerary
Niagara Falls night walking tour
- Meet guide at Hardrock Cafe
- Walk to Niagara Falls State Park
- Visit Goat Island and learn history
- See Nikola Tesla monument
- Explore Luna Island near American Falls
- View Horseshoe Falls from Terrapin Point
- Watch fireworks at Terrapin Point (seasonal)
The Experience
The tour starts at Hardrock Cafe, where your guide meets you and walks you into Niagara Falls State Park. From there the route moves through Goat Island—named after a goat that literally made history, and your guide will explain why. You'll see the Nikola Tesla monument and learn how the world changed through what happened at Niagara Falls. The walking path takes you through Luna Island, where the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls come into view, and this is the closest you can get to the water on foot.
The tour ends at Terrapin Point, where the Horseshoe Falls—the largest of the three—dominates the view. At night the falls are lit, and you stand just steps away from the water. The mist hits your face. The roar is loud enough that conversation stops. From May 14 through October 14, fireworks launch from this exact spot at 10pm, so if you time it right you watch them explode over the water. Fireworks depend on weather, so there's no guarantee, but when they go the view from Terrapin Point is the one to have.
The whole walk takes 90 minutes. Your guide is accredited, speaks English, and knows the stories that turn a waterfall into a place where something actually happened. All fees and taxes are included. The park is wheelchair accessible, surfaces are paved, and the route suits all fitness levels—it's a walk, not a hike, and the pacing is built around stopping to look and listen.

Is this one for you?The 90-minute walk is steady but not strenuous, and the pacing stops often to look and listen—book this if you want the falls lit up and the stories behind them without spending a full day on the tour. If you're there between mid-May and mid-October and the weather holds, you'll watch fireworks from Terrapin Point at the end.

Will I see fireworks on the night I go?
Fireworks launch from Terrapin Point at 10pm nightly from May 14 through October 14, but they're subject to weather. If conditions aren't safe, the show is postponed or cancelled, and the tour operator isn't liable for that.
Do I need to arrange my own way to the starting point?
Your guide meets you at Hardrock Cafe, which is the meeting point. You'll need to get there on your own—public transportation options are available nearby if you don't have a car.
What will I learn about on this walk?
Your guide shares the history of Niagara Falls, including the story of the goat that made Goat Island famous, the life and work of Nikola Tesla and how he changed the world through the falls, and the geology and power of the three waterfalls themselves.
Is this tour suitable if I use a wheelchair?
Yes—all areas and surfaces on the route are wheelchair accessible, and the tour is designed for all physical fitness levels. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and service animals are allowed.
How long is the walking tour?
