The experience

Seven hours starts with the Maid of the Mist, a boat that has run since 1846 and takes you within arm's reach of all three falls: American, Bridal Veil, and Canadian Horseshoe. Waterproof ponchos are provided, though the mist from the thundering water will still soak you. After the boat ride, an elevator takes you up to the Observation Deck for a second angle on the falls from above, then you walk down to Luna Island with your guide for close views of the American and Bridal Veil falls while learning the geology and history of the site.

Cave of the Winds is only on the American side and is where the day shifts from watching to doing. You move through a small museum and a cinema experience about Nikola Tesla's use of the falls to generate electricity, then put on a poncho again and walk a wooden deck built directly under Bridal Veil Falls, rebuilt every year, where you can actually touch the water. The hurricane deck follows, where 60,000 gallons of water thunder down over you if you choose to stand there. This is the only place at Niagara where you can reach the falls themselves.

The Jetboat Ride in Lewiston, New York takes the adrenaline higher. You navigate the powerful currents of the Niagara River, twisting through the Niagara Gorge at high speed with the gorge walls rising around you. Lunch at Silo restaurant in Lewiston comes next, a meal with local and international options and views overlooking the falls. Ice cream is included to finish.
