The experience
Your guide meets you at a specified location and walks you through three specialty cafes: two recognized by Food and Wine as among America's best, plus a third run by an SCA national barista competitor. At each cafe, you get a tasted coffee drink included in the price while your guide explains third-wave coffee and shares stories about the neighborhood. The walk between stops takes about 20 minutes total, so you're moving through the city as part of the experience, not sitting in one place.
The fourth stop is a specialty retail shop focused on local fashion and sustainability, where the guide shows you what these businesses do beyond coffee. At every cafe and the shop, you have the chance to buy additional coffee, merchandise, or goods from world-class roasters and makers. Nothing is required, but the guide knows what's worth trying if you want to support the places you've just visited.
The whole outing runs about two hours. All areas are wheelchair accessible, and public transportation options are nearby if you need them. Service animals are welcome. The guide speaks English and leads groups of any fitness level.
What’s included
- Sample coffee drinks at all three specialty cafes.
- guidance from a local expert on third-wave coffee and neighborhood history.
- access to a specialty retail shop featuring local fashion and sustainability brands.
