Fisher Towers Rafting Moab: Raft or Kayak Full Day
Small paddle rafts mean you steer the boat, not just ride in it.
Fisher Towers is a full-day rafting and kayaking activity on the Colorado River near Moab where you choose between a paddle raft or kayak, navigate rapids together, and learn about local geology and history from your guide. All equipment, lunch and parking are included; groups stay under eight people per boat. Children from age 5 are welcome, and the trip runs in all weather.
The Experience
The day starts with your choice: paddle raft or kayak. Small groups of up to eight people share each raft, which means you're part of the crew steering through the water instead of a passenger watching from the side. Your guide handles the big decisions and the safety, but your paddle does the work. The Colorado River near Fisher Towers has enough current to keep things moving and enough rapids to make it interesting, but nothing that demands expert skills—families with kids and first-time paddlers run this stretch regularly.
The scenery is the other half of why this run is popular. Red rock walls rise around you as you move downstream, and your guide points out the geology written in the stone layers, the plants that survive in this country, and the history of who lived here before the river became a playground. Lunch is included partway through, so you eat on the bank instead of rushing back to town. The whole thing takes about five and a half hours from start to finish, which is long enough to feel like a real day on the water without eating up your entire schedule in Moab.
All the gear comes with you—life jacket, paddles, and whatever else floats—so you show up ready to paddle. Parking is handled, and the guides have been running this river since 2003, which means they know where the water gets interesting and where it smooths out. Dress for the weather and bring sunscreen; the sun reflects hard off the water and the rock.

Can I choose between rafting and kayaking on the same trip?
Yes. You pick raft or kayak when you book, and your guide will match you with the right boat for your choice and skill level. Both run the same Fisher Towers section of river on the same day.
What's included in the full-day trip?
Fisher Towers includes all paddling equipment (life jacket, paddles, raft or kayak), a professional guide, lunch, and parking. You bring sunscreen, a towel, and clothes you don't mind getting wet.
How many people paddle together in one raft?
Each paddle raft holds a maximum of eight people, so your group stays small enough that everyone's paddle matters to how the boat moves.
Is this trip suitable for kids and beginners?
Yes. Children from age 5 can participate, and the trip is designed for all skill levels. The rapids are exciting but manageable for families and first-time paddlers; your guide will brief everyone on technique before you launch.
How long does the full-day trip take?
Fisher Towers is about five and a half hours on the water, including lunch and the time to get geared up and back to the parking area.
What if the weather is bad?
The trip operates in all weather, so bring layers and rain gear if storms are forecast. The river and the rock don't close, but you'll want to dress for whatever the day brings.
