Includes cooler, water, and restroom—book your spot now.★ 4.87 (163)2hUS$ 189View › You know that feeling when you first step onto the dock at Bayside Marketplace and the air just smells like salt and sunscreen? That’s how our Miami sunset catamaran cruise started—right in the middle of all that waterfront energy. We checked in at this restaurant overlooking Biscayne Bay, everyone already laughing over tropical drinks (I tried something with guava—can’t remember the name, but it was pink and strong). Our guide, Marco, waved us over with a big grin and somehow made remembering everyone’s name seem easy. I liked that he didn’t rush us; we just drifted out to the boat when we were ready.
The catamaran itself felt huge compared to what I’d pictured. There was a live DJ setting up near the bow—he was playing old-school Miami tracks at first, nothing too loud yet. Once we set off under the MacArthur Causeway, you could see people on jet skis waving from below. The breeze picked up and I swear you could taste a little salt on your lips. Someone handed me a glass of prosecco (open bar is real here) and then these little bites started making the rounds—shrimp skewers, something cheesy on toast. I probably ate more than my share. The skyline started glowing orange as we cruised past the Port of Miami—never realized how many cruise ships could fit there until Marco pointed it out.
Honestly, I thought the highlight would be just seeing the city lights come on, but near Key Biscayne everything slowed down for a minute. The sun dropped right over Biscayne Bay—so gold it almost hurt to look at—and everyone went quiet except for one guy who toasted “to not being stuck in traffic.” I still think about that view sometimes when I’m back home in my kitchen. The DJ faded into some mellow house music and even people who didn’t know each other started talking like old friends. After we docked again, they offered this Texas de Brazil steakhouse deal for anyone wanting to keep the night going—I didn’t go (too full), but a couple next to us said it was worth it.
