The Experience
Ninety minutes on the farm starts with a walk through the working pineapple fields upcountry in Haliimaile. Your guide leads you through the growing operation and explains the cultivation techniques as you move through the stages—and you taste the fruit at each one, so you understand what you're eating instead of just tasting the end result. The fields are open-air and you'll stand for stretches at a time, so wear closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen and bug spray.
After the fields, you move through the shipping and packing facility on flat ground. The guide shows you how the fruit gets sorted, packed and prepared for travel. At the end of the tour, every guest receives a free pineapple that's already packaged airport-ready, so you can take it straight through security without extra stops.
You'll ride a mini coach to get around the property; it requires climbing three steps on and off. The whole tour is designed for all ages and fitness levels, though children must be at least 3 years old to join.
