You board a 30-foot fishing boat with a licensed captain and head to the reefs off Marathon, drifting and deep-dropping for wahoo, mahi-mahi, snapper, grouper and other Atlantic species. All rods, tackle, safety equipment and fishing licenses are included; the crew cleans your catch at the dock and can recommend local restaurants to cook it fresh.
The boat pulls away from the Marathon dock and you're moving into open water fast, the turquoise shallows dropping away as the captain heads toward the Atlantic reefs where wahoo, mahi-mahi, tuna, snapper and grouper hold. The 30-foot open fishing boat has a t-top for shade, which matters when you're out there for hours, and everything you need is already on board — rods rigged for both right and left-handed anglers, tackle sorted, safety gear stowed. A licensed captain runs the boat and knows where the fish are moving that day; you're not guessing or hoping you picked the right spot.
The fishing itself is straightforward: you're drifting and deep-dropping over the reefs, letting the current work and watching the water. King mackerel, grouper, snapper, sharks — the species change depending on the season and what's feeding, but the reefs around Marathon hold fish year-round. You're not fighting crowds or sharing a boat with thirty other anglers; this is a working charter, not a party boat. When something takes the line, the captain knows what it is and how to bring it in. If you've never done this before, he'll talk you through it. If you've done it a hundred times, he'll stay out of your way.
When you head back to the dock, the crew cleans your catch. You can take the fish home, or the captain can point you toward one of the local restaurants that will cook it for you that same day — grouper or snapper or mahi-mahi grilled and plated while you're still thinking about the fight. That's the part that sticks with people: not just the catching, but the eating, the whole thing closing in one afternoon.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want to fish the reefs without arranging your own boat, tackle or license — the captain handles the navigation and knows where the fish are, which is what turns a morning on the water into an actual catch.
