The Experience

The first thing I noticed when we pushed off from Riverbend Park was how the Loxahatchee River just sort of narrows in around you — not in a claustrophobic way, but like it’s inviting you in. Our guide, Chris, handed me a paddle and grinned, “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to steering.” I didn’t believe him at first (my kayak zigzagged for the first ten minutes), but after a while, the rhythm of the water kind of takes over.
