The Experience

You walk into the Luxor and a staff member at the entrance asks if you're here for the Titanic—she's been working there for three years and can tell by the look on people's faces when they're about to see it. The exhibition sits inside the hotel, and you move through it at your own pace, no guide, no group, just you and the artifacts. That's the thing about this setup: you spend as long as you want in front of a piece of the hull or a passenger's luggage, and nobody's waiting behind you.

The exhibition holds more than 250 authentic items recovered from the wreck after it went down in 1912. You'll see luggage still bearing passenger names, jewelry, china from the ship's tables, unopened bottles of Champagne, floor tiles, ship's whistles. There's a large section of the hull itself—the actual metal that was underwater for over a century. The replicas of the first- and third-class cabins are built with original furnishings from the manufacturers, so you get a sense of what the space actually felt like. The Grand Staircase replica is there too, and the displays walk you through how the ship was built, what went wrong that night, and the stories of the people aboard. Less than half survived.

The Luxor is on the Strip, so after you finish the Titanic exhibition, you can grab food at one of the restaurants in the hotel or walk around the casino. Last entry is one hour before closing, so plan for that if you're coming late in the day. It's wheelchair accessible throughout, and families bring strollers without issue. You move through it alone or with whoever you came with, at whatever speed makes sense.
