An hour on the water between limestone cliffs and lakeside mansions

A one-hour shared boat cruise on Lake Austin departs from the 360 bridge boat ramp with a live captain, USCG-approved life vests, Bimini shade and a cooler. The boat holds multiple passengers and runs on a fixed schedule; you bring your own drinks and pay a separate $5 cash entrance fee at the boat ramp booth, plus gratuity to the captain at the end of the tour.

The Experience

The boat leaves on the hour from the 360 bridge boat ramp at 5019 N. Capital of Texas Highway, where you'll meet your captain between the cement pillars under the bridge. Arrive 30 minutes early to allow time for the 5–10 minute boarding process. The captain runs a Bentley pontoon boat and keeps departures punctual; you'll walk across the ramp to the water line and board with other passengers on the shared tour.

The one-hour cruise glides through the heart of Lake Austin, passing the limestone rock cliffs that overlook the water and the architectural estates that line the shoreline. Depending on conditions and the captain's route choice, you may pass a PGA Tour golf course stop or other points along the lake. The Bimini top provides shade for part of the boat, and you'll have a cooler on board—bring ice separately if you want it cold. The captain narrates in English throughout the trip.

Timing options include early morning sunrise cruises, midday trips, scenic sunset runs, or after-hours night cruises with an optional stop at Ski Shores Cafe for a quick drink beforehand. The $5 boat ramp entrance fee is cash only and paid separately at the wooden booth before boarding. At the end of the tour, tip the captain directly (20% is customary)—they accept cash, Venmo, Zelle or Cash App.

Top questions

What should I bring on the Lake Austin boat cruise?

Bring your own drinks in whatever quantity you want—the tour is BYOB, so pack a cooler with beer, wine or cocktails. A cooler is provided on the boat, though you'll need to bring ice separately if you want drinks cold. Wear sunscreen and bring a hat or sunglasses for the open water.

What is the limestone cliff area along Lake Austin?

The lime rock cliffs are a natural feature that overlooks Lake Austin and forms part of the scenic backdrop during the cruise. The boat passes directly by these formations as it moves through the heart of the lake.

Can I bring children or infants on this cruise?

Yes. Infants and small children can ride, and infants are required to sit on an adult's lap. Specialized infant seats are available, and the tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels. Service animals are also allowed.

What time should I arrive for the boat cruise?

Arrive 30 minutes before your departure time at the wooden booth under the 360 bridge. The parking lot is to the right at the bottom of the exit. Boarding takes 5–10 minutes and the boat departs on the hour, so arriving early prevents delays.

What are the extra costs beyond the ticket price?

Two separate payments are required: a $5 cash-only entrance fee paid at the boat ramp booth before boarding, and a 20% captain gratuity paid directly to the captain at the end of the tour. The gratuity can be paid in cash, Venmo, Zelle or Cash App.

What happens if the boat doesn't have enough passengers?

Trips may be rescheduled if the minimum passenger requirement is not met. The captain will notify you of any changes before your scheduled departure time.
