The experience
You arrive at North Clearwater Beach ready to get on the water. Your guide walks you through the stable tandem kayak and gets you comfortable before you push off into the calm Intracoastal Waterway. The paddle itself is steady and manageable. You're not racing, and the water here is protected from the open gulf. As you move along the coastline, you pass waterfront homes and mangroves while watching for dolphins, manatees, rays and coastal birds that live in these shallows. The guide handles the route and the pace, so you can focus on paddling and taking in the scenery.
After paddling for roughly an hour, you reach a secluded spoil island. This is where the trip shifts: you get out of the kayaks and have about an hour to swim, explore the shoreline, play beach games, or simply sit in the sand and let the Florida sun do its work. The island is small and quiet, nothing like the crowded public beaches. You can wade, walk the perimeter, or stay put with a cold drink and a snack. The Bluetooth speaker means you can play music if you want it. When you're ready, you paddle back across the Intracoastal to North Clearwater Beach.
The kayaks themselves are built for stability, so even if you've never paddled before, you won't spend the afternoon fighting to stay upright. Dry storage keeps your phone and keys safe. Towels, cold bottled water, snacks, beach games and the speaker are all packed in, so you show up and paddle: no separate gear to rent, no stops to grab supplies. The whole experience is reserved for you and your group, which means no waiting for a larger tour to assemble and no strangers setting the pace.

Is this one for you?The paddling itself is moderate and manageable for most fitness levels, but you should be comfortable in the water and able to move in and out of a kayak. The pace is yours to set once you're on the water, and the hour on the island gives you time to recover and enjoy the scenery without rushing back to shore.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
I've never kayaked before, will I be able to handle this?
The tandem kayaks are designed to be the most stable in the industry, and your guide will get you comfortable in yours before you leave North Clearwater Beach. The Intracoastal Waterway is calm, and the pace is set by your group, not by a schedule. Most first-time paddlers find the 2.5 hours manageable, especially since you spend roughly an hour on the island, not paddling the whole time.
What happens if I want to stop and swim before we reach the island?
The route is set to reach the secluded spoil island, where you have dedicated time to swim and explore. If you have questions about the route or want to discuss your comfort level before booking, your guide can address them when you arrive at North Clearwater Beach.
Is the hour on the island enough time to actually relax, or is it rushed?
You have roughly an hour on the spoil island to swim, explore, play beach games or simply sit and rest. It's not a quick stop. It's built into the 2.5-hour experience so you have real time to enjoy being out of the kayak.
What's included, and what do I need to bring?
Tandem kayaks, life jackets, dry storage, towels, cold bottled water, snacks, beach games and a Bluetooth speaker are all included. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a change of clothes if you plan to swim. The price is per tandem kayak for two people.
Can we bring our own music or do we have to use what you provide?
A Bluetooth speaker is included, so you can connect your phone and play your own music if you want it. It's optional. You can paddle in silence or with whatever you choose.
What kind of wildlife might we see on the Intracoastal?
Dolphins, manatees, rays and coastal birds are common in the Intracoastal Waterway. Sightings depend on the day and the season, but your guide will know where to look and what to watch for.
