The experience

You start with direct transportation from your pickup point to the Gearshack, the outfitting office where the fishing happens. The drive is short, roughly 10 to 15 minutes, and gets you to the water without the motion of a boat. Once there, you have fishing poles, lures and bait provided. Rain gear and boots are included so you can fish in whatever weather Juneau throws at you.

The fishing itself is hands-on from the shore. You're casting for Alaskan salmon with a guide who knows the water and can help you land what bites. There's no seasickness to manage, no rocking deck, just you and the fish. Families bring kids as young as six, and the guide works with all ability levels, whether you've fished before or this is your first time holding a rod.

When you're done, the guide takes your catch to a local fish processor. They clean and pack it, then ship everything to your home address. You don't haul fish on a plane or figure out how to get it home. The processor handles that part. Transportation back to your starting point is included, wrapping up the three-hour outing.

What’s included

  • fishing poles, lures and bait.
