The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your Los Angeles location and a drive to Pioneertown, an Old West movie set built in the 1940s. You'll spend about an hour walking Mane Street, browsing the Pioneertown Museum, and photographing the rustic wooden buildings and saloons. Then it's on to the town of Joshua Tree for breakfast at a local restaurant—your choice of café or diner—followed by a 30-minute stop at the Joshua Tree Visitor Center to pick up maps, check exhibits, and ask rangers about the best spots ahead.

Once inside the park, you'll walk the 1-mile Hidden Valley loop trail surrounded by towering boulders and Joshua trees, spending about 1.5 hours there. Next is Skull Rock, the park's most recognizable formation with its natural skull-like shape, where you'll spend roughly an hour exploring and photographing. Then comes a 1.5-hour hike to Arch Rock—a 30-foot natural rock arch carved by erosion—and Heart Rock, a lesser-known heart-shaped formation tucked among the boulders. Each stop is built for photography and light scrambling; the pace is yours to set.

The tour aims to reach Keys View, perched over 5,000 feet above sea level, in time for sunset. You'll spend about 30 minutes taking in the panoramic vista of the Coachella Valley and the San Andreas Fault as the sky turns orange and pink. After sunset, you'll head into town for dinner at a local restaurant.
