The experience
The experience starts with gear and a specialized training session from your flight instructor, who teaches you how to position your body and move safely inside the wind tunnel. The facility uses an 800-horsepower vertical wind tunnel (the same technology professional skydivers train with) to generate a wall-to-wall cushion of air that keeps you suspended without any jump required. No prior experience is necessary. The instructor handles all the technical work and stays with you throughout.
Once inside the flight chamber, the tunnel operator slowly increases the wind speed until you're airborne. You'll fly one-on-one with your instructor for 60 seconds, then do it again for a second flight, each time reaching wind speeds between 130 and 175 mph. The stable airflow across the entire width of the tunnel prevents you from falling off the column of air, and your instructor remains on hand to guide your body position and movements the whole time.
The entire session takes about 75 minutes from arrival to certificate. Groups are kept to six people maximum, but your actual flight time is solo with your instructor, so the experience stays personalized. You'll take home a personalized flight certificate documenting your achievement.
