The Escape Game Houston is a 60-minute escape room experience at The Galleria shopping center where teams of up to eight players solve puzzles, find clues and complete a mission together with a live guide. You choose one of five games—Special Ops: Mysterious Market, The Heist, The Depths, Cosmic Crisis, or Playground—and have exactly one hour to escape. Plan an extra 15 minutes before to brief and 15 minutes after to debrief and take photos. Games are not dark or scary; they're designed for all fitness levels and guests 13 and up, though younger players can join with an adult.

The Experience

You arrive at The Galleria, Texas's largest shopping center, and head to the escape room entrance. A dedicated game guide meets your team, explains the rules, and walks you through the briefing. Then the door locks behind you. For the next 60 minutes, you and your teammates search for clues hidden in the room, solve puzzles that unlock the next section, and work through the logic that stands between you and escape. Every door has an exit button if anyone needs to leave, but the goal is to stay locked in and finish the mission together.

The five games each tell a different story. Special Ops: Mysterious Market puts you undercover as a secret agent uncovering the truth. The Heist sends you after a stolen masterpiece from an art thief. The Depths takes you into an undersea laboratory hunting for secrets. Cosmic Crisis asks you to destroy a black hole before time runs out. Playground offers a different kind of challenge. None of them are designed to be dark or scary—they're built around teamwork, communication, and the kind of problem-solving that works best when everyone in the room is thinking out loud.

The whole experience takes about 90 minutes from arrival to leaving: 15 minutes to get briefed and ready, 60 minutes inside the locked room, and 15 minutes after to debrief, compare notes, and take photos. The Galleria location sits in the heart of the shopping center with plenty of restaurants nearby—Velvet Taco, Shake Shack, and JOEY Uptown are popular stops before the game, and Le Macaron or Creamistry work well for a post-game treat. Public transit options are available, and the space is fully wheelchair accessible.

What happens if my team can't solve a puzzle before the hour is up?

The game guide is there to help as needed during the 60 minutes. If you don't escape by the time is called, the guide will walk you through the solution and you'll still get the full debrief and photo time afterward.

Can kids under 13 play the escape rooms?

Players under 13 can join, but some game content may be too difficult for younger children. Anyone 14 and under must have an adult (18 or older) participate in the game with them, and anyone under 18 needs an adult to sign their waiver.

What's the difference between the five games?

Each game has its own story and puzzle set. Special Ops: Mysterious Market is a spy mission; The Heist involves recovering stolen art; The Depths explores an underwater lab; Cosmic Crisis focuses on stopping a black hole; Playground offers a different type of challenge. All are one hour long and designed for teams of up to eight.

Will I be trapped in a locked room?

Yes, the door locks during play, but every door has an exit button. You can leave the room at any time if you need to—the button is always accessible and clearly marked.

Can we book a private game or will other people be in our room?

Unless you book all eight spots in a game, other teams may join your room and play together as one larger group. If you want a fully private experience, you'll need to reserve all the spots.

How much time should I plan for the whole visit?

Plan about 90 minutes total: 15 minutes for check-in and briefing, 60 minutes inside the escape room, and 15 minutes for debrief and photos. The Galleria has dining and shopping nearby if you want to arrive early or stay after.
