The trails cross running water and climb to ridgelines where two mountain ranges come into view at once.

A 2-hour horseback ride through Montana ranch country with an expert guide, crossing Greycliff Creek and climbing to views of the Absaroka-Beartooth and Crazy Mountains. The ride takes you through working ranch terrain where deer, wild turkeys and occasional elk appear along the trail. Children are welcome from age 6. Saddle bags are provided if needed.

The experience

The ride starts in ranch country where the trails cross Greycliff Creek and climb toward the Greycliffs themselves. Your guide leads the way and points out the history and geography of the landscape as you go: the mountains visible from the top are the Absaroka-Beartooth range and the Crazy Mountains. The whole outing runs two hours, which gives you time to settle into the saddle and cover real ground instead of circling a corral.

Wildlife shows up regularly along these trails. Deer are common, wild turkeys move through the brush, and elk appear often enough that your guide watches for them. The views from the higher sections of the ride are the payoff for the climb: the ridgeline opens up the two mountain ranges at once, and the creek below gets smaller as you rise. An expert guide handles the logistics and keeps everyone safe. Saddle bags are available if you need to carry something.

What’s included

  • Expert guide leading the entire ride.
  • saddle bags if needed for personal items.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 12 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What kind of physical shape do I need to be in for this ride?

A moderate level of fitness is needed. You'll be in the saddle for two hours and the trail climbs toward the Greycliffs, so some stamina matters. The guide will pace the group, but this is not a flat loop.

Will I see wildlife on the ride?

Deer and wild turkeys appear regularly along the trails. Elk show up often enough that your guide watches for them. There's no guarantee on any single day, but the landscape supports all three.

What's included in the ride, and what do I need to bring?

The guide, the horse and saddle bags if you need them are all included. Bring water, wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and let the operator know ahead of time if you have any injuries or conditions that might affect your riding.
