Slow rides with a wrangler leading, hand-feeding goats and chickens, and a miniature horse kids can lead themselves

Horseback riding in Mississippi at a 24,440 sq ft equestrian center where a wrangler leads each rider at a controlled pace, with helmets and tack provided. Kids and beginners ride one at a time while others walk alongside, hand-feed the goats and chickens, lead the miniature horse, and pet the friendly animals scattered across the property. The facility operates rain or shine in indoor and outdoor arenas, and overnight rental apartments overlook the riding arena and river views.

The experience

The rides move at your kids' pace. Wrangler Roger leads each horse while riders take turns one at a time: nobody is left to manage a horse alone. Folks waiting their turn walk alongside, take pictures, lead the miniature horse (which can carry up to 50 lbs), and hand-feed the goats, mini pigs, and chickens. The animals eat directly out of your hands. The ducks splash in a water area, and the pigs grunt as they move around the property. Safety comes first, then fun.

The 24,440 sq ft facility includes both indoor and outdoor arenas, so rides happen rain or shine. Horses are calm and happy here. They're used to being petted and groomed between rides. The miniature horse is especially patient with kids. Weight limits are 200 lbs for the regular horses and 50 lbs for the mini horse. Helmets and all tack are provided. A live guide speaks English and German.

The property sits on Mississippi riverfront with views of sunsets. If you're staying longer, overnight rental apartments overlook the indoor riding arena and the animals outside, so you can watch the horses and scenery from your window.
