The experience

You show up with no experience and leave having ridden waves. The instructors teach paddling technique, how to read and select waves, the pop-up motion, board control, timing, lineup etiquette and ocean safety. Everything a beginner needs to stand up on a board. The crew running these lessons are professionals: world-traveling surfers, watermen and former WSL competitors who teach with an eye toward keeping you safe and building real skill instead of just a story.

The lesson runs 90 minutes in the water. You get a board and wetsuit for the session. The instructors handle the rest. Groups stay small enough that you get real feedback on your technique, not just a wave count. The focus is on the mechanics (how your body moves, how to read the ocean, when to paddle), so the skill sticks when you come back.

Top questions

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

Do first-time surfers actually ride waves in their first lesson?

Yes. The instructors' track record shows that first-time surfers almost always ride waves in the first lesson, which is why the focus stays on technique and safety rather than just paddling out.

What do I need to bring or wear to the surf lesson?

The lesson includes a board and wetsuit, so you just bring yourself. Wear something you don't mind getting wet underneath if you prefer, though the wetsuit covers most of you.

What's the minimum age to take the lesson?

The minimum age is 15. Younger surfers or those with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or cardiovascular concerns should check with the instructors before booking.

How long does the lesson take from start to finish?

The lesson is 90 minutes in the water, which gives you time to learn paddling, pop-up technique, wave reading and ocean safety without rushing through the fundamentals.
