The experience
The drive from Flagstaff climbs through San Francisco Peaks and into the high desert before reaching Grand Canyon National Park. You'll have time to walk the rim or explore the historic buildings and shops at Grand Canyon Village, where you can buy lunch. After that, the tour moves along the South Rim to the East Rim, with multiple stops for views and photos at scenic vistas, including the historic Desert View Watchtower.
On the return route, you cross into the Navajo Nation and stop at Cameron Trading Post along the Little Colorado River Gorge. The drive back takes in views of the Painted Desert Cliffs. Water is supplied throughout the day. Bring layers for temperature changes, especially in fall, winter and spring. A live guide leads the group, which stays small.
Non-U.S. residents aged 16 and older will be charged an additional $100 USD per person for national park entry. You'll need to contact the tour company directly before your date to provide payment information and bring a valid photo ID for residency verification.
