The experience
The tour leaves Flagstaff between noon and 12:30pm and heads east across the high desert toward the canyon. You'll stop at Cameron Trading Post in the Navajo Nation before continuing to the Grand Canyon South Rim, where multiple overlooks give you views as the afternoon light shifts. The guide points out the San Francisco Peaks along the way and explains what you're seeing at each stop.
Timing is the whole point here: you reach the rim as the sun drops lower, and the colors deepen and change for hours. You get time on your own to find your spot and watch, then dinner is yours to arrange in the area. The return drive gets you back to your hotel around 8:30 or 9pm, so the full day is accounted for but the early morning stays yours.
Bring layers (the rim is cooler than Flagstaff, especially in fall and winter), and a valid photo ID. If you're not a U.S. resident, there's an additional $100 national park fee per person aged 16 and up, charged separately before the tour date. Children from age 6 are welcome. Those under 8 need their own car seat or booster seat.
What’s included
- Hotel pickup and drop-off in Flagstaff.
- bottled water throughout the day.
- a live English-speaking guide.
- multiple stops at scenic overlooks on the Grand Canyon's east and south rim, including Cameron Trading Post.

Is this one for you?The 8.5-hour commitment means you leave midday and return by 9pm, so early mornings and late evenings stay free for other plans in Flagstaff or the region. If you need a shorter outing or want to spend the full day hiking the rim, this tour's timing and structure won't fit.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 15 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the Grand Canyon South Rim like when you get there on this tour?
The South Rim is the most visited part of the canyon, with established overlooks and trails along the edge. On this tour you stop at multiple viewpoints on the east and south rim as the light changes through the afternoon and into sunset, so you see the canyon in different colors and shadows rather than just one vantage point.
How much time do you actually spend at the Grand Canyon itself?
The tour is 8.5 hours total from Flagstaff. Most of that is driving and stops along the rim. You have time on your own to walk and watch at the overlooks, though the exact amount depends on traffic and how the guide structures the day.
Is dinner included, or do I need to find my own?
Dinner is on your own. Time is set aside in the afternoon for you to eat in the area around the rim before heading back to Flagstaff.
Does the tour stop anywhere besides the Grand Canyon?
Yes. You stop at Cameron Trading Post in the Navajo Nation on the way to the rim, and you pass the San Francisco Peaks during the drive. The main event is the Grand Canyon South Rim and its overlooks.
What if I'm visiting from outside the U.S.? Does that change the cost?
Non-U.S. residents aged 16 and older pay an additional $100 per person for national park access, charged separately. You'll need to contact the tour company directly before the tour date to provide payment information and bring a valid photo ID for verification.
