The Experience

"Did you see that fin?" someone shouted from the other side of the Tiki Pub just as I was pouring a splash of rum into my plastic cup. Honestly, I almost missed it—the dolphin popped up so quick, all silver and smooth in the last bit of sunlight. The boat rocked a little and everyone leaned over the rail, phones out, but then we just stood there for a second watching. Our captain—her name was Jess—kept things relaxed but somehow knew exactly when to slow down or point out something cool along the Fort Myers Beach waterways. She joked about how locals can tell what kind of fish are jumping just by the sound they make hitting the water. Not sure if she was serious but it made us laugh anyway.
