Fort Lauderdale Stand Up Paddle Board Lesson 1-on-1 Instruction
Learn to paddle standing with an instructor watching your technique
A one-on-one stand up paddle board lesson in Fort Lauderdale pairs you with a live instructor who selects a board for your body type, teaches you to stand and paddle, and reviews your technique before you leave. The lesson happens on the waterways overlooking mansions and mangroves, with complimentary photos and videos included; free parking is available on-site.
The Experience
The instructor starts by explaining the differences in paddle board widths, lengths and designs, then matches you to a board that fits your build. You'll get the board, paddle and life jacket as part of the lesson. The goal is to have you standing and paddling in the water quickly, rather than spending time on theory or in a group setting where the pace doesn't match your learning speed.
Once you're upright, the instructor paddles nearby to watch your technique and offer corrections. You'll work on the basics—how to hold the paddle, how to shift your weight, how to move forward and turn. When the instructor feels you've got the fundamentals down, you'll review what you learned and get a chance to practice anything again under supervision or ask questions about the sport itself. Many people use this time to figure out whether they want to buy a board later, or to understand what type would suit them best.
The lesson takes place at a location with a spacious deck and backyard overlooking the waterways, where you might see marine life. You'll get complimentary photos and videos of the session, and parking is free. Water, Gatorade and coconut water are available for separate purchase if you want them during or after the lesson. A waterproof phone case or bag can be rented or bought if you want to bring your phone into the water.
