The experience

The tour starts with a 15-minute ride out into the Gulf of Mexico, where clear emerald-green water and abundant bait make dolphin sightings likely. You'll be in the water looking for Bottlenose dolphins, manta rays, sea turtles and other marine life that move through this stretch of Florida's coast. The boat carries a maximum of 6 guests under Coast Guard regulations. If your group is larger, you'll split between two vessels, but both boats stay close enough that everyone experiences the same stops and encounters together.

From the dolphin grounds, the tour heads to Shell Island for snorkeling in shallow, clear water. You search for shells, swim among vibrant fish and watch for sea turtles moving through the shallows. The entire outing runs about 2 hours. Sanitized life jackets, masks and snorkels come with the tour, along with a cooler of ice water. You bring your own food and drinks in a cooler: glass containers aren't permitted on the boat.
