The experience

You meet at Willow Beach by the dirt kayak launch, where the guide fits you with a life jacket and walks through safety and paddling basics. The kayaks are stable and fast enough to cover ground without wearing you out, and the guide brings ice water and snacks for the paddle. From there the route heads upriver past the Willow Beach Fish Hatchery, a working station you'll see from the water before the landscape opens up.

The paddle takes you to Emerald Cove and Emerald Cave, where the water turns that particular shade of green and the rock walls close in.
