The experience
You start at a location near Zion and St. George where you'll gear up with helmet, gloves and knee pads, sign the waiver on your phone, and do a few practice laps around the parking lot to get comfortable on the electric dirt bike. Once ready, you'll ride directly from the meeting point through the ghost town of Silver Reef toward the trailhead, staying connected to the group through Bluetooth headsets so the guide can give directions and keep everyone together. A designated rider at the back of the group makes sure no one gets separated.
At the trailhead, you'll park the bikes and hike to Candy Cliffs: a stretch of swirling sandstone formations that catch the golden hour light before sunset. You'll have about 15 to 20 minutes to explore and photograph the formations, which glow with warm colors during this window. The hike is short but adventurous, and the timing is built around the light rather than the crowds.
The return ride back to the starting point happens as the sunset reaches full bloom across the red canyons to the east. Your bike's headlights guide the way as daylight fades, and this stretch often yields the best photo opportunities of the day. The whole experience (ride, hike, return) fits into an afternoon or early evening window, making it workable for travelers with limited time near Zion.
