The experience

The cave tour starts 200 feet from the giftshop, passing through the old Springfield jail gates before descending into the underground. Your guide walks you through an hour of stalagmites, stalactites, flowstone and rare helictites formations. The geological detail is what makes this cave distinct from the surface attractions. Bring a sweater. The constant 59°F temperature underground stays cool no matter the season outside. Tours leave on the hour, so you can time your arrival to fit the rest of your day.

After the cave, the Dino Trail is a leisurely walk where you'll encounter over 30 life-sized dinosaur displays: Triceratops, Smilodon, Tyrannosaurus and others scattered across the nature trail. The whole package, cave plus dinosaurs, takes about two hours. If the kids want more, you can add gemstone mining or play the 9-hole indoor putt-putt course on-site, or test the Hurricane Simulator. None of those extras are locked in. You decide what fits your group's energy and time.

The family rate means one or two adults can bring children ages 4–12 under a single booking for up to five people total. Service animals are welcome. The cave walk is moderate in physical demand. The trail after is easy. Tours run year-round, and the indoor setting means weather doesn't cancel the day.
